34 public parks in Bangkok opened to Loy Krathong festivities

Thirty-four public parks in Bangkok will open for people to celebrate the Loy Krathong festival, which falls on November 27 this year, according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).
The BMA is, however, urging each family to float only one krathong, under the “One Family, One Krathong” campaign, to reduce the number of krathong left over after the festival.
The campaign will also help to decrease work for city cleaners, who are charged with salvaging the krathongs from the capital's waterways each year. Last year, 570,000 krathongs were collected during the morning following Loy Krathong day, a 160,000 increase from 2021.
The public parks, which will be open from 5pm until midnight, include:

• Lumpini (Pathumwan district)
• Chatuchak, Wachirabenchathat Park (Rot Fai Park) (Chatuchak district)
• Phra Nakhon and Queen Sirikit 60th Anniversary Park (Lat Krabang district)
• Saranrom, Rommaneenart, and Santichaiprakarn (Phra Nakhon district)
• Wareepirom and Siripiorom (Klongsamwa district)
• Sereethai and Nawaminpirom (Buengkum district)
• Nong Chok and Ratpirom (Nong Chok district)
• Benjasiri and Benjakitti (Klong Toey district)
