เจ้าหน้าที่กู้ร่าง - บีบีซี รายงานความคืบหน้าเหตุรถนำเที่ยวจม ทะเลสาบไบคาล ในเขตสหพันธ์ไซบีเรีย ของ ซีเรีย เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 20 ก.พ.ที่ผ่านมาว่า เจ้าหน้าที่ประดาน้ำสามารถกู้ร่างผู้เสียชีวิต 8 รายขึ้นมาได้แล้ว ในจำนวนนี้เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวชาวจีน 7 ราย และคนขับชาวรัสเซีย 1 ราย
นายอิกอร์ คอบเซฟ ผู้ว่าการแคว้นอีร์คุตสก์ แถลงแสดงความเสียใจอย่างสุดซึ้งต่อครอบครัวของผู้เสียชีวิต ก่อนเสริมว่าจุดเกิดเหตุมีความลึกราว 18 เมตร และเจ้าหน้าที่ต้องใช้กล้องใต้น้ำค้นหาร่างผู้เสียชีวิต

ทะเลสาบไบคาลเป็นทะเลสาบที่ลึกที่สุดในโลกด้วยความลึกสูงสุด 1,642 เมตร เป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวยอดนิยม ช่วงฤดูหนาวน้ำในทะเลสาบจะกลายเป็นน้ำแข็ง และเคยเกิดอุบัติเหตุร้ายแรงหลายครั้งในช่วงหลายปีที่ผ่านมา
นายคอบเซฟยังโพสต์ข้อความผ่านเทเลแกรมว่า รถบัสตกลงไปในรอยแยกของน้ำแข็งกว้างราว 3 เมตร “ผมขอเตือนอีกครั้งว่า การออกไปบนน้ำแข็งทะเลสาบไบคาลนั้นไม่เพียงถูกห้ามในขณะนี้ แต่ยังถือเป็นพื้นที่อันตรายถึงชีวิตด้วย” พร้อมเรียกร้องให้นักท่องเที่ยวใช้บริการเฉพาะบริษัททัวร์ที่ได้รับอนุญาตเท่านั้น

ขณะเดียวกันทางการกำลังเร่งสอบสวนเพื่อหาสาเหตุ “น่าเศร้าที่แม้แต่โศกนาฏกรรมครั้งนี้ก็ยังไม่สามารถสอนบทเรียนให้ผู้คนได้”
เนื่องจากเกิดเหตุคล้ายกันอีก 2 เหตุการณ์เมื่อวันที่ 20 ก.พ. และวันที่ 21 ก.พ. แต่โชคดีเจ้าหน้าที่ช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบเหตุ 6 คนที่ติดอยู่ในรถได้ทันท่วงที และช่วงปลายเดือนม.ค. มีเหตุนักท่องเที่ยวชาวจีนเสียชีวิตหลังจากรถที่โดยสารมาพลิคว่ำบนผิวน้ำแข็งของทะเลสาบไบคาล
Russian authorities say divers have recovered the bodies of seven Chinese tourists and a Russian driver who died after their mini-bus plunged under the ice to the bottom of Lake Baikal in Siberia. Irkutsk regional Governor Igor Kobzev offered his "deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims". He earlier said one Chinese tourist had managed to escape. /adelaidenow/
Seven bodies have been found in Lake Baikal in Russia’s Siberia after a tour bus carrying eight Chinese tourists plunged into the water when the ice broke as it crossed the frozen lake on Friday, the Russian emergency ministry said. The depth at the site of Friday's accident was 18m (59ft), and the divers had to use underwater cameras to search for the bodies.
