PM to visit Chong Bok Pass

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is scheduled to visit Nam Yuen district in Ubon Ratchathani tomorrow, where she will visit the Chong Bok Pass and meet with the commander of the Second Army Region.

The visit will mark her first to the site where the fatal clash between Thai and Cambodian troops on May 28th triggered the current border tensions between the neighbouring nations.

She is also expected to meet, and possibly reconcile with Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, whom she labelled as being on the opposing side of her government over the border issue, in a leaked audio clip of her conversation with Cambodia’s strongman Hun Sen.

Lt Gen Boonsin has stated that he bears no grudge over the remarks by the prime minister, who has already called him to explain that it was just a political tactic.
