Sanitation workers find woman's body hidden in discarded blanket

Police have launched an investigation after sanitation workers discovered the body of a woman wrapped in a large blanket inside a garbage truck in Rayong on this morning.

Pol. Capt. Chaithawat Rodma, a deputy chief of investigations at Klaeng Police Station, said he was notified of the gruesome find in Moo 8 of Krasae Bon sub-district in Klaeng district. He led a team of investigators, forensic officers and EMTs to the scene.

Initial inquiries have determined that sub-district administration organisation’s sanitation workers were collecting trash along a road in Moo 13 when they noticed a large, tightly wrapped blanket emitting a foul smell. Unaware of its contents, the workers tossed the bundle into the back of the refuse truck.

As the truck travelled on to Moo 8, the mechanical compactor began compressing the garbage, ripping open the fabric and exposing the body of a young woman.

The woman is described as having red hair. She was approximately 150 centimetres tall. Forensic examiners estimate that she has been dead for at least three days.

Police are currently working to identify the woman, while a pathologist will establish the exact cause of death.
