Over 18,000 counterfeit beauty products seized in Samut Prakan

Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) officers have raided a commercial building in Samut Prakan, seizing over 18,000 counterfeit beauty products worth approximately 2 million baht that were destined for online sales across Thailand.

Acting on a search warrant issued by the Samut Prakan Provincial Court, officers searched a four-storey commercial building in the Thai Ban sub-district of Mueang district. The location had been identified as a storage facility for counterfeit goods.

Inside the building, police discovered numerous large cardboard boxes filled with imitation skincare products, sunscreens, facial cleansers, creams, toothpaste and various serums.

A total of 18,478 counterfeit items falsely bearing registered trademarks were confiscated.

A male Chinese national, identified only as ‘Wei Xin’, was arrested at the scene.

He claimed to be employed as a product packer, handling inventory imported from China for distribution via online platforms in Thailand.

Officers also found packaged parcels ready for dispatch to buyers.

Wei Xin was charged with possessing counterfeit goods with intent to sell.

The raid followed complaints from consumers who reported receiving fake or sub-standard cosmetics that differed from genuine manufacturers’ standards.

Police are expanding their investigation to identify other individuals involved in the illegal operation.
