Midnight inferno kills at least 27 at Chatuchak beer house

A fire broke out at a packed restaurant in the Ladprao area of Chatuchak district around midnight, killing at least 30 people.

Rescue teams have so far identified 17 women and eight men among the victims, but the identities of the remaining victims have yet to be confirmed.

Police were alerted at about midnight after a fire erupted at Rong Beer Na Ladprao, a beer house near Soi Ladprao 1.

Firefighters and rescue workers rushed to the scene and evacuated several people. Those injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

A live feed from the scene showed a police officer attempting to resuscitate a victim. The footage also showed people screaming and running in panic from the beer house.

Most of the victims were found trapped inside the restaurant's restrooms.

The blaze was brought under control about 45 minutes later. Firefighters and rescue workers then entered the restaurant, which was completely gutted by the fire.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the scene and was briefed on the situation.
