The Tomorrowland Thailand 2026 music festival is set to inject over 21.3 billion baht into the economy, driving the country’s transition toward high-value tourism and cementing its status as a global entertainment hub, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul provided updates on the mega-event yesterday. It is scheduled to take place at Wisdom Valley in Pattaya, Chon Buri province, from Dec 11 through 13 this year.

He revealed that all tickets for the world-renowned electronic dance music festival have officially sold out, promising massive economic benefits.

The three-day festival is expected to generate 21.4 billion baht in economic circulation, directly benefiting hotels, accommodation, restaurants, transport and local services nationwide.

The government also forecasts 1.4 billion baht in tax revenue and the creation of 21,386 new jobs across the tourism, event management, logistics and hospitality sectors.

Surasak emphasised that pushing for world-class events is a strategic move to transform Thailand into a global entertainment hub.

He added that the event serves as a golden opportunity to showcase Thailand’s potential, while raising local service, hospitality and safety to international standards.

All 150,000 tickets, allotted at 50,000 attendees per day, have been snapped up. Foreigners make up 85% of the ticket holders, led by primary markets like Malaysia (8.5%), Singapore (7.5%) and Australia (6.5%), alongside secondary markets in Europe (8%) and the United States (3.5%).

The high influx of international visitors has already resulted in the booking of over 22,000 hotel-and-ticket packages. Additionally, more than 250 pre- and post-event travel packages have been secured, attracting high-spending, long-staying tourists who plan to travel around Thailand for one to two weeks surrounding the festival.

Venue preparation at Wisdom Valley is currently more than 90% complete. Government agencies have collaborated to upgrade main and secondary road infrastructure, alongside designing comprehensive traffic management plans and shuttle services. The festival has also officially received Board of Investment (BOI) privileges in the musical festival category.

Meanwhile, the ministry reported that Thailand welcomed 16.21 million foreign tourists by July 4 this year, a 3.11% decline compared to the same period last year. Tourism spending during this period generated 782.6 billion baht.

The top five source markets were China with 2,654,728 arrivals, followed by Malaysia (2,109,956), India (1,239,023), Russia (1,022,483) and South Korea (596,673).

Despite the dip, the tourism sector is expected to expand in the coming weeks. The growth will be driven by the summer holiday season in both short-haul markets, like China and Hong Kong, and long-haul markets including France, Germany and the Netherlands.
