Car crashes off expressway onto motorcycle in Sathorn, injuring two
A car plunged from the Si Rat Expressway in Bangkok's Sathorn district last night, landing on a motorcycle travelling on the road below, injuring two.
The accident occurred near the Rama III interchange of the Si Rat Expressway. The vehicle fell onto Charoen Rat Road, in front of the Tai Hong Kong Yok Khao Shrine, crushing a motorcycle.
Police were alerted to the accident at 8.52pm and arrived at the scene to find an extensively damaged EV lying upside down in the left lane.
Emergency services used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the male driver trapped inside the wreckage. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The motorcycle struck by the falling vehicle was also heavily damaged. Its rider, a 68-year-old Indian national, suffered a fractured wrist and was transported to hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations found that the driver, who was travelling alone, lost control of the car on the expressway near the Rama III interchange before plunging off the elevated road.
The rear of the falling car struck the motorcycle.
