The party’s spokesperson, Nan Boonthida Somchai, said the party met today to discuss the proposed censure motion, based on the contents of a leaked conversation between the prime minister and Cambodia’s Senate Speaker, under Section 151 of the Constitution.
However, as the prime minister has now been suspended from duty by the Constitutional Court, she said the party would postpone the motion until the court delivers its ruling on whether she will be removed from office.
The Bhumjaithai and Palang Pracharath parties together hold 90 votes in the House, nine short of the number required to support a no-confidence motion.
The People’s Party, the largest in opposition, does not support a censure debate against the prime minister at this time.
