Names of 42 heroes who fell in border clashes engraved on National Memorial
The Thai Armed Forces have inscribed the names of 42 fallen heroes on the National Memorial in Pathum Thani province, to honour those who lost their lives while defending the country’s sovereignty during border clashes with Cambodia in July and December last year.
Their names were recorded under the designation “Heroes of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, Defenders of the Kingdom of Thailand.”
The ceremony was held on Sunday to mark Thai Armed Forces Day.
The memorial service was presided over by Supreme Commander Air Chief Marshal Ukrit Boontanont, along with senior military officers and family members of the fallen soldiers.
In addition, the military added an 11th battlefield soil collection to the National Memorial. The soil, taken from combat zones along the Thai-Cambodian border, was named “Battlefield Soil for the Defense of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2568,” symbolising the courage and sacrifice of Thai soldiers.
The ceremony also recognised the family of Major General Satthawat Sujarit, the first officer killed during the second round of border clashes on December 8, 2025. His sacrifice later gave rise to the name “Operation Satthawat,” designated by the Royal Thai Army in his honour.
