Actress Savika Chaiyadej, mother and brother acquitted in Forex 3-D investment case

Former actress Savika Chaiyadej, her mother Sariya and elder brother Kittichet were today acquitted due to insufficient evidence by the Criminal Court of defrauding the public in connection with the ‘Forex-3D’ investment scandal.

Five executives of the company that operated the investment scheme, among them Apiruk Kotethi, were, however, found guilty and were each sentenced to 49,110 years in prison and fined a total of 4.911 billion baht.

Since the Thai law limits the maximum term of imprisonment to 20 years, the five convicts will serve only 20 years behind bars.

Altogether 24 individuals were indicted for involvement in the investment scam, which was found to be a Ponzi scheme, causing combined damage estimated at about 2.5 billion baht to hundreds of investors.

In December 2024, the Criminal Court sentenced three defendants in the ‘Forex 3D’ investment scheme, namely Teepatsakorn Kimwangtako, Suranat Narkmusik and Ayuwat Chaimethanarakul, to 49,125 years each. The court also ordered the three convicts to pay compensation, amounting to 2.5 billion baht to the victims.

‘Forex 3-D’ was a foreign exchange operation created by Apiruk, founder of the ‘RMS Familia Company’, offering very high returns to investors, ranging from 60%-80% of the profits earned by the company.
