Chao Phraya express boat fares to drop by Bt1 from tomorrow
Commuters travelling along the Chao Phraya River will see a slight reduction in travel costs as the Chao Phraya Express Boat Company announces a 1-baht reduction across all services, effective this Friday.
The decision follows a recent dip in diesel prices, which fell by 4 baht to 44.45 baht/liter on April 11.
Charoenporn Charoentham, managing director of Chao Phraya Express Boat stated on Wednesday that “The company is passing these savings on to passengers.”
The operator provides passenger boat services connecting Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret pier and Bangkok’s Wat Rajsingkorn pier.
Under the new fare structure, the flat rate for the Orange Flag service (Nonthaburi–Wat Rajsingkorn) will drop to 19 baht, while the Yellow Flag service (Nonthaburi–Sathorn) will decrease to 24 baht.
For the Green-Yellow Flag route, fares will be adjusted to 17 baht for the Pak Kret–Nonthaburi route, the Nonthaburi–Sathorn route to 24 baht and the Pak Kret–Sathorn route to 36 baht.
The air-conditioned Red Flag service, between Nonthaburi and Sathorn, will see its price lowered to 33 baht.
"If diesel prices continue to trend downward, the company is prepared to adjust fares accordingly," Charoenporn added.
The move is in line with the Ministry of Transport’s regulations, which link public transport fares to fluctuating fuel costs, mainly impacted by the ongoing Middle East conflict, which has disrupted global oil supplies and pushed crude prices higher.
Since Thailand relies heavily on imported oil, domestic fuel prices have surged in tandem with global market trends, a situation further intensified by the scaling back of subsidies from the Oil Fuel Fund.
