Thai Army condemns Cambodia for shelling of civilian targets in Si Sa Ket
The Royal Thai Army denounced Cambodia today over the allegedly indiscriminate shelling of a Thai village in Kantharalak district of the northeastern province of Si Sa Ket, injuring four villagers, two of them seriously.
The Second Army Region reported that one BM21 rocket, fired by Cambodian forces, landed in front of a bunker in Village 1 of Sao Thongchai sub-district, injuring the villagers as they were rushing towards the bunker after being alerted of incoming rockets.
All the injured were rushed to the Benchalak Hospital in Si Sa Ket.
The Second Army Region also reported today that Thai troops have taken complete control of the heavily-contested Mount 677 strategic hilltop, in Sam Tae of Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket, and have seized a large cache of munitions, including 50 RPGs, 11,765 rounds of ammunition, eight cellphones and a notebook.
The Cambodian soldier’s notebook contains a map of the locations where 30 anti-personnel landmines have been laid.
The Chanthaburi-Trat Task Force also reported today that the Thai Navy has destroyed two 130mm Cambodian howitzers in Ko Yor, in Cambodia’s Koh Kong province.
The Thai Army, in the meantime, claims that its soldiers have taken complete control of the Prasat Khana Karb Choeng district of Surin, after driving Cambodian soldiers from the area.
