16-year-old female student in Nong Khai questioned over gun-related prank
A high school student in Nong Khai province was taken into police custody for questioning today after she allegedly threatened to use a gun to cause violence at school in a Line Open Chat post on Monday.
Although no violence occurred, the threat caused panic among students, their parents and teachers at a school in Muang district. A complaint was filed with the district police by the school’s management.
The post in question featured the image of a gun being placed on a table in a classroom, together with several text messages, one of which reads “in which school building to start first”.
The police treated the case seriously and an investigation was launched. They managed to locate the source of the post, a 16-year-old female student of Tha Bo School.
Yesterday, officers went to the student’s home and took her to the police station for questioning, accompanied by her parents. Police checked her cellphone and a tablet device. They found evidence related to the threatening post.
The student has allegedly admitted that she posted the gun image, which was AI generated, as a prank among friends and had no intention to cause actual violence. She also promised not to do the same again.
The school’s management decided not to press any charges against her, but urged her parents to supervise her closely.
