Volunteer enlistment rises in this year’s military draft
The military has revealed that a total of 27,698 men have volunteered for active military service, accounting for 44% of those called up.
In total, 434,778 Thai young people reported for the mandatory conscription process, with 62,318 needed to maintain the required number of active duty personnel, a decrease of 5,504 from the previous year.
Of those who volunteered to enlist, the figure represents an increase of 1,508 from last year.
The military reports that 20,031 joined the Army, 3,871 the Navy and 3,796 the Air Force. The figures reflect a continued rise in voluntary enlistment and growing public confidence in the military.
The 2026 draft between April 1st and April 12th was smooth, fair and transparent and conducted under uniform standards nationwide, according to the military.
