Technical glitch halts Airport Rail Link services
Passengers using the Airport Rail Link (ARL) in Bangkok faced severe travel disruptions early this morning, following a technical malfunction at a turnout switch within the system's maintenance depot, which drastically reduced train operations.
The operator announced at around 6am today that the technical issue prevented most trains from leaving the depot to enter full service.
As a result, the ARL is temporarily operating with only a single train, reducing service frequency to approximately one train per hour per station.
Authorities emphasised that the incident poses no threat to passenger safety and maintenance teams are working at full capacity to rectify the issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
Passengers are strongly advised to seek alternative public transportation to avoid lengthy journey delays until the system returns to normal.
To prevent missing flights or travel disruptions, air passengers are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative options, including public taxis, ride-hailing services and other authorised platforms, public buses, airport limousines or private vehicles.
Airport staff have been deployed at key transport hubs throughout Suvarnabhumi to assist travellers, provide real-time public transit information and recommend optimal alternative routes to minimise the impact of the disruption.
