According to Itthidej Thanetwattana, he represents 40 people, most of whom claim to have paid advances to the company, but never received the products.
Their combined losses are estimated to exceed 20 million baht.
He revealed that the complainants reside in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Italy, Germany, Canada, Estonia and Luxembourg. Most of them are in the business of importing products from Thailand for sale in other countries.
“They saw advertisements about the iCon business on online and decided to engage with the firm after seeing numerous celebrities in the advertisements,” Itthidej said.
Some of them met iCon CEO Waratphol Waratvorakul and celebrities abroad, which contributed to their trust in the business.
“One victim, living in Hong Kong, ordered products from the iCon team, including cocoa powder, coffee and collagen. She paid about 1 million baht to the firm, but received products worth far less,” Itthidej claimed.
Waratphol and 17 other suspects, including three celebrities, have been arrested and detained for allegedly colluding to defraud the public and entering false information onto a computer system.
