Anutin welcomes China’s Wang Yi to Government House for talks

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul arrived at Government House early this morning to oversee final preparations for the official visit of China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The high-level meeting is expected to focus on agricultural exports, technological cooperation and a joint crackdown on transnational call center scams.

The Prime Minister arrived in his signature electric vehicle, well ahead of the scheduled meeting. He was seen instructing security personnel and groundskeepers at the Thai Khu Fah building, ensuring that the landscaping was pristine for the welcoming ceremony.

Wang Yi, who serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions followed by a working lunch.

Key topics on the agenda include agricultural trade, involving increasing the exports of Thai farm products to the Chinese market, and encouragement of further investment by Chinese business leaders in Thailand’s industrial sector.

Others include technology exchanges, including the sharing of expertise in digital infrastructure and innovation, and security cooperation, including coordinated efforts to suppress transnational call centre scammers.

Inside the Thai Khu Fah building, a team of professional Thai chefs was spotted early Friday morning preparing a special menu for the official luncheon, highlighting Thailand’s gastro-diplomacy.

The visit marks another step in strengthening the ‘Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership’ between Bangkok and Beijing, particularly in addressing modern security threats and economic recovery.
