Cabinet extends deep south emergency decree to mid-October
The Cabinet yesterday approved a three-month extension of the emergency decree in the volatile southern border provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala, effective from July 20 to Oct 19, 2026.
This is the 85th extension of the special security measure, following a proposal by the Office of the National Security Council (NSC), according to Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek.
Under the approved extension, the emergency decree will remain in effect across most areas of the region, with specific exemptions for districts deemed to have seen significant improvements in the security situation.
In Narathiwat, the decree covers Mueang Narathiwat, Bacho, Rueso, Rangae, Sri Sakhon, Chanae, Cho-airong, Su-ngai Padi, Tak Bai and Su-ngai Kolok districts, while Yi-ngo, Waeng, and Sukhirin districts remain exempt.
In Pattani, the special measures apply to Mueang Pattani, Nong Chik, Khok Pho, Yarang and Sai Buri districts, with exemptions granted to Yaring, Panare, Mayo, Mai Kaen, Thung Yang Daeng, Kapho, and Mae Lan districts.
In Yala, the decree continues to be enforced in Mueang Yala, Bannang Sata and Than To districts, while Betong, Yaha, Kabang and Krong Pinang districts are excluded.
