Thailand’s Paris Paralympics medal haul grows
With the Paris 2024 Paralympics reaching the halfway point, Thailand has already won two gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
Thailand’s first gold medal was won by Pongsakorn Paeyo in the men’s 400m wheelchair racing T53 class. Another was for Worawut Saengampa in the men's BC2 boccia class.
The silver winners include Athiwat Paeng-nuea in the men’s 400m wheelchair racing class T54, Rungroj Thainiyom and Phisit Wangphonphathanasiri in the men’s doubles table tennis MD14 class and Yuttajak Glinbancheun and Wijittra Jaion in the mixed doubles table tennis in XD7 class.
Thailand’s first bronze medal was won by Khwansuda Phuangkitcha in the women's 47kg K44 Taekwondo. The second was won by Amnouy Wetwithan and Sujirat Pookkham in the women's doubles badminton WH1-WH2. Watcharaphon Vongsa won Thailand’s third bronze in the men’s boccia BC2 class.
The fourth bronze has been won by Wanchai Chaiwut and Yuttajak Glinbancheun in the men’s doubles table tennis the MD8 class. Dararat Asayut and Chilchitraryak Bootwansirina won another bronze the in women’s double table tennis WD5 class.
Seventy-nine athletes from Thailand are participating at these games, competing in 15 different sports between August 28 and September 8th. This is the 11 time Thailand has taken part in the Paralympic Games.
