Will the real John Wick please stand up?

The appearance on Thai social platforms of a foreign man, who strongly resembles the fictional “John Wick” character, has sparked hot debate about whether he is the actor in costume or not.

This weekend videos were shared on the TikTok account “Tuktiklife”, showing a foreign man selling noodles, roasting squid and even washing dishes at a Bangkok restaurant.

The man’s hair, beard and costume made him look very much like the John Wick character, played on screen by Keanu Reeves, 59.

Other video clips show him in a department store, with people lining up to take turns to take photos with him. He appeared friendly, welcoming people with smiles to take selfies with him.

Mainstream and social media platforms also reported his presence.

Many Thai netizens believed that he was Reeves working on a new project in Thailand, as the man, who has not yet revealed his real identity, looked very much like the character.

“I am sure and I hope that the man really is Reeves. He may be on a new mission in Bangkok,” a netizen wrote on a Facebook page. His post was liked by hundreds of other users.

Many Thai netizens wrote, however, that Reeves is now involved in a new music project and has his hair cut short.

“I wish that Reeves were in Bangkok, but sorry folks, he now has short hair and is working on a new music project in the United States,” one wrote.

For the ladies, the man showed up in Bangkok with his Thai wife.

A noodle restaurant owner, in the Prachachuen area, said he was closing his venue when he spotted the hitman’s lookalike.

“I was very excited to see him walking by my restaurant one day because I believed that it was Wick, considering his costume, hair, and beard,” he said.

He dropped everything, called him to stop, and asked to take photos with him. His staff did the same.

“When he posed for photos, I looked closer and found that he was not Reeves. He was very friendly,” he said.

His Thai wife asked him to help wash dishes for photo shoot and he appeared more than happy to do so.
