Unconfirmed reports say, however, that the actor has been located and is about to be brought back into Thailand.
Pol Col Chakrapong Nutphadung, the superintendent of Suvarnabhumi police station, told the media today that the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok had asked police in Mae Sot to question the driver, adding, though, that details of the driver’s testimony are not available.
He disclosed that Xingxing’s girlfriend, who flew into Bangkok from China yesterday, and an official from the Chinese Embassy, filed a complaint with police last night with a request to view video of Xingxing’s arrival at Suvarnabhumi airport January 3rd.
The footage shows the Chinese actor arriving alone and going through the normal immigration process. He was picked up by a driver at the airport, said the police colonel, adding that he later learned that Xingxing had travelled to Mae Sot district.
Xingxing arrived in Thailand for a casting appointment at an undisclosed location in Myanmar and has not been seen or heard from since, prompting his girlfriend to seek help in locating him.
The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok said in its Facebook post today that they, and the consular office in Chiang Mai, have been trying their best to locate Xingxing, after having received inquiries from his relatives.
Meanwhile, a report early this morning on the World Forum page indicated that Xingxing had been located in Myanmar, near the Thai border, and is to be taken across the Moei River back into Thailand today.
The report could not be independently confirmed.
Colonel Natthakorn Ruentip, commander of the Ratchamanu Task Force based in Mae Sot district, said that all vehicles heading to Myanmar have to go through the Huai Hin Fon checkpoint and he has no report of Xingxing passing through the checkpoint.
Pol Col Bowornpob Sunthornrekha, superintendent of the immigration police in Tak, said that he has received a report that Xingxing was heading for Mae Sot at about 10am on January 3rd, but has no more information.
He said he has contacted Myanmar immigration officials in Myawaddy township, but is yet to receive a response.
