ISLAMABAD, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's economy registered a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2.7 percent in the outgoing fiscal year, according to the Economic Survey 2024-25 unveiled by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday.

Although the figure remained below the government's initial target of 3.6 percent, the minister stated that the growth was achieved despite a challenging global economic environment.

"From my perspective, this is the right way forward in terms of sustainable growth," Aurangzeb said, describing the 2.7 percent figure as a sign of gradual economic recovery.

The GDP had contracted by 0.2 percent in the previous fiscal year but rebounded to 2.5 percent in the current year, with further increases anticipated next year. The finance minister emphasized that the government aims to avoid a return to boom-and-bust cycles.■
