10 Must-See Highlights at Home Journal's 45th Anniversary Exhibition

Home Journal

發布於 06月18日06:02

This lineup of homewares doubles as works of art.

To celebrate the 45th anniversary of Home Journal, we unveiled a remarkable commemorative exhibition featuring 10 extraordinary furniture pieces that brilliantly showcase the fusion of design and art.

These meticulously chosen exhibits not only highlight outstanding craftsmanship and aesthetic beauty, but also reveal the design inspiration and profound thought behind each creation.

1. Little PI

Characterised by its asymmetric eye design and sleek body curves, "Little PI", embodies interior designer Jay Leung's profound love for his daughter, who was born with vision in only one eye. Beyond a personal story, it symbolises resilience, celebrating individuals living with physical imperfections. Their challenges do not define them; instead, their strength and potential shine as brightly as any other.

The name "Little PI" is inspired by the idea of "Perfect Imperfection"—a celebration of beauty and strength emerging through life’s trials. While marginalised groups often face barriers such as prejudice and limited access to resources, art becomes a universal language, fostering empathy, respect, and understanding.

Through art, individuals with unique abilities can express their creativity, share their inner worlds, and inspire appreciation for their contributions. "Little PI" reminds us that even with physical imperfections, brilliance and charm can illuminate the world.

Leung plans to expand the "Little PI" collection, with proceeds supporting initiatives for individuals with visual impairments and other marginalised communities. This reflects his commitment to inclusivity, advocacy, and the transformative power of art.

2. It’s Caffeine

Immerse yourself in the “It’s Caffeine” armchair set—a captivating tribute to the enchanting world of coffee culture, created by interior design firm Starz Pasha. A striking, modern metallic sphere elegantly supports the chair, infusing your space with a contemporary flair. The sumptuous leather upholstery, reminiscent of a freshly brewed latte, exudes warmth and comfort. Crafted from eco-conscious R-ABS (Recycled ABS) using advanced 3D printing technology, this piece seamlessly blends sophistication with environmental responsibility.

Accompanying the armchair is a matching coffee table made from repurposed coffee grounds, further highlighting its sustainable ethos. Choose between two styles: a sleek, clear design that reflects the brightness of fruity notes, or an enveloping shape that embodies the comforting essence of nutty flavours.

The “It’s Caffeine” armchair set is a whimsical yet refined statement, perfectly capturing the spirit of coffee culture. Its curvaceous silhouette, akin to a steaming cup of coffee, beckons you to sink in and savour your favourite brew.

5. BoConcept Imola Chair

The BoConcept Imola armchair, a timeless classic designed by Henrik Pedersen in 2008, epitomises Danish design excellence with its sculptural form inspired by the elegant curves of a tennis ball. This iconic piece merges bold, artistic expression with unparalleled comfort, making it a coveted addition to sophisticated interiors.

Available in over 120 premium fabrics and leathers, the Imola allows for bespoke customisation to elevate any aesthetic. The Imola can choose between a sleek wire leg base or a swivel star base in brushed steel, ensuring fluid movement and elegance. Measuring 95 cm wide, 99 cm deep, 110 cm high and a weight capacity of 125 kg, the Imola balances bold design with practical functionality.

6. Quooker All-in-1 Boiling Water Tap

Quooker is an innovative boiling water tap system that provides 100°C filtered boiling water, as well as cold, chilled, and sparkling water—all filtered. This product not only offers pure convenience but also delivers benefits such as energy efficiency, safety, and space-saving solutions. Quooker features a sleek and minimalist design and is available in various models to suit your needs. The Flex model includes a pull-out hose for added versatility, while the Front model places the handle at the front for even greater ease of use.

7. Schneider Electric UNICA X

The UNICA X series by Schneider Electric showcases a refined approach to everyday essentials. These ultra-slim switches and sockets are thoughtfully designed, blending seamlessly into interiors while offering a subtle elegance.

8. GROHE SPA Allure Gravity Faucet

Allure Gravity—the latest faucet line in the GROHE SPA portfolio—is designed with boundless avenues for customization. It features a slim square silhouette paired with interchangeable cover plates crafted from Caesarstone quartz, black or white glass, and colored glass with a mirror effect, offering a distinctive touch to suit individual tastes. With easy-to-swap cover plates, the collection delivers unparalleled convenience and creative flexibility, transforming the bathroom into a space of both style and well-being.

9. Bosch's Lady Plus 45

In 1987, a team of engineers at Bosch unveiled a groundbreaking innovation at Domotechnica: the world’s first 45 cm dishwasher, the Lady Plus 45. Rooted in German craftsmanship, this compact appliance was meticulously designed to fit seamlessly into small kitchens while delivering impressive performance. Its significance lay not only in its technological features but also in its ability to adapt to changing societal needs, reflecting Bosch's commitment to efficiency and quality.

One major challenge for consumers was the issue of wet plastic dishes after the wash cycle. To address this, Bosch introduced DesertDry+ Zeolith®technology in 2008. This silicate absorbs moisture from the dishwasher’s interior, eliminating the cloud of steam that typically escapes when the door is opened. With Zeolith-equipped dishwashers, users can place plastic dishes directly into the cupboard without the hassle of hand-drying.

10. PULP Table and Hubba Armchairs

The PULP collection marks the first collaboration between Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet and Roche Bobois: a collection of tables, chairs, and armchairs with a biomorphic aesthetic that eschews straight lines, complemented by refined finishes.

Inspired by the living world, the collection is based on the dissociation of elements: the designer envisioned each piece as a cluster of molecules. The cocktail tables and end tables feature round or softly rounded triangular tops and are available in two sizes and heights, with finishes in lacquer or wood.

Also featured in the set are the Hubba armchairs, envisioned by Ukrainian designer Andrii Kovalskyi. The chairs' elegantly uncluttered design and boldly rounded shapes seemingly draped in a single piece of fabric. The accompanying ossicle-shaped footstool enhances the experience of comfort while adding a playful dimension.
