All the celebrities spotted at the ‘Gabrielle Chanel, Fashion Manifesto’ exhibition in London
From September 16, 2023 until February 25, 2024, the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum in London will be staging an exhibition dedicated to the work of French couturière Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, charting the evolution of her iconic design style and the establishment of the House of Chanel, from the opening of her first millinery boutique in Paris in 1910 to the showing of her final collection in 1971.
Presented in partnership with Palais Galliera, Fashion Museum of the City of Paris, this exhibition shows how her iconic design style continues to influence the way women dress today. Over 200 looks are brought together for the first time at the exhibition in South Kensington. Highlights include the "little black dresses" that shot her to fame, tweed suits, and garments which incorporated elegant, more androgynous tailoring, defying conventional norms of dressing at the time. There are also sections which touch on Gabrielle Chanel's venture into beauty with the instantly-recognisable Chanel N°5 fragrance as well as her personal history living through World War II.
