South Africa's Magalies Water Board recently concluded a "comprehensive" five-day strategic knowledge-sharing exercise on infrastructure project financing and global partnerships in China.

JOHANNESBURG, July 26 (Xinhua) -- South Africa's Magalies Water Board recently concluded a "comprehensive" five-day strategic knowledge-sharing exercise on infrastructure project financing and global partnerships in China, the state-owned company said on Friday.

"The primary objective of this event was to foster information exchange, gather industry insights, and explore proactive infrastructure designs and initiatives utilized by select water sector peers in Shanghai, China," the company said in a statement.

The trip to east China's Shanghai Municipality was facilitated by the New Development Bank (NDB). According to the statement, the NDB's funding will benefit two projects in South Africa, namely the Pilanesberg Bulk Water Supply Scheme and the Moretele North Klipvoor Bulk Water Supply Scheme.

"Given that the projects are currently in the design development phase, the knowledge-sharing initiative will play a crucial role in aligning these upcoming projects with advanced design modalities employed by leading water treatment and advanced design institutes internationally," the company said.

"This collaboration will enable the integration of the best practices and innovative approaches from the industry leaders, enhancing the potential for successful implementation and optimizing performance outcomes," it added.

The Magalies Water Board also said that they got some insight from several NDB-funded projects underway in various neighboring provinces around Shanghai.

The Magalies Water Board is a regional water utility in South Africa. It provides bulk water and sanitation services to municipalities, mining operations, and industrial customers across Gauteng, Limpopo, and North West provinces. ■
