Update: China believes Venezuela will properly manage its internal affairs: FM spokesperson

BEIJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- China respects Venezuela's sovereignty and independence, and believes that the Venezuelan government will properly manage its internal affairs in accordance with its Constitution and laws, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said here Monday.

Spokesperson Lin Jian told a regular news briefing that the cooperation between China and Venezuela is the cooperation between two sovereign states, which is under the protection of international law and the domestic laws of the two countries.

"No matter how the political situation in Venezuela evolves, China's willingness to deepen practical cooperation with Venezuela in various fields will not change," Lin said, adding that China's lawful interests there will also be protected in accordance with law. ■
