Update: Chinese shares close lower Friday
BEIJING, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.33 percent to 3,593.66 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.22 percent lower at 11,168.14 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at nearly 1.79 trillion yuan (about 250.63 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.84 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Stocks related to semiconductor and medical instruments led the gains, while stocks related to cement and liquor suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.23 percent to close at 2,340.06 points. ■
