Europe's Security Illusion

#Opinion It seems that some European leaders, represented by #NATO chief #MarkRutte, are still day-dreaming of seeking security protection from the #U.S., even though #Washington is creating real security risks for the continent.

For years, European politicians have talked about "#StrategicAutonomy" while refusing to stand up for their own security. At the same time, they are struggling to stay at the table as the U.S. repeatedly pushes them aside, or even treats them as items on the menu.

#Trump's #America is highly likely to get even tougher on its NATO and European allies. Self-delusion can never deliver true security. #Europe has to grow up and stand on its own feet. The era of relying on an American "daddy" has to be put to an end at last.■
