BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- China issued multiple red alerts on Monday, warning of possible mountain torrents and geological disasters in several regions.

The Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) jointly issued a red alert for potential mountain torrents. The eastern parts of Beijing, northern parts of Tianjin and northeastern parts of Hebei will face a high risk of mountain floods from 8 p.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

In addition, an orange alert was issued for risk of mountain floods in parts of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning and Heilongjiang.

Local authorities have been urged to strengthen real-time monitoring, flood forecasting and early warnings, as well as evacuation and risk prevention measures.

Separately, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the CMA issued a red alert for geological disaster risks in parts of northeastern Beijing and northeastern Hebei and an orange alert for parts of northeastern Beijing, northern Tianjin, and northeastern Hebei.

China has a four-tier weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue. ■
