BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- China's National Immigration Administration (NIA) announced Thursday a decisive blow against drug trafficking, reporting the seizure of 2.42 tonnes of narcotics during operations across the country's border areas and ports in the first half of this year.

As of June 25, immigration authorities had cracked 205 drug-related cases at borders and ports, leading to 262 arrests, according to NIA figures.

The seizures included 38 major cases involving drug hauls exceeding 10 kilograms each.

The NIA attributed these results to its intensified efforts in combating cross-border drug trafficking, pointing to the implementation of innovative policing techniques.

Key strategies include intensified surveillance and interdiction along the border, comprehensive crackdowns targeting entire trafficking chains and enhanced application of big data analytics.

The NIA vowed to maintain a sustained, high-pressure campaign targeting drug crimes at ports and borders, noting that authorities will deepen analysis of trafficking routes and criminal methods and expand law enforcement collaboration with neighboring countries. ■
