The Venue that Kenshi Yonezu performed at Kohaku Uta Gassen-Otsuka Museum of Art

Kenshi Yonezu, a Japanese musician, made his live television debut on the last “Kōhaku Uta Gassen” in Heisei. He chose to perform his hit song “Lemon” in the Otsuka Museum of Art which is in his native Tokushima. The Otsuka Museum of Art: the largest exhibition space in Japan

The Otsuka Museum of Art is a “Ceramic board masterpiece art museum” has the largest exhibition space in Japan. It was built to commemorate the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group’s 75th anniversary in Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture. If you have ever been to here before, you must be impressed by its full-size reproduction of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. 

More than 1,000 of the world’s masterpieces that were replicated on ceramic boards displayed in the museum. Specifically, visitors can feel free to take pictures of those genuine paintings, and even experience those works up close. 

Over 1,000 pieces of ceramic board masterpieces

There are over 1,000 replicas of Western art masterpieces from more than 190 art museums in 26 countries worldwide in this museum. These artworks are reproduced to their original size using special techniques by Otsuka Ohmi Ceramics Co., Ltd. The ceramic reproductions can maintain the colour and shape for over 2,000 years and help to contribute like preserving the history of cultural treasures. The museum received many compliments and endorsements from Picasso’s son, Miro’s grandchildren and many other art museum curators. Rumor has it that over 900 million JPY had been paid for the copyright of the paintings including the Sistine Chapel ceiling “Genesis” and the fresco “The Last Judgement” before the reproduction began. The museum replicated not just ancient murals and also modern paintings from Europe.
