Inbound trips to Beijing up 39 pct in 2025

BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese capital Beijing saw 5.48 million inbound tourism trips in 2025, up 39 percent year on year, raking in an inbound tourism spending of 50.56 billion yuan (about 7.21 billion U.S. dollars), up 44.7 percent year on year, official data showed on Friday.

Of these trips, 923,500 were made by tourists from China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, up 26.7 percent year on year, while 4.557 million were made by foreigners, up 41.8 percent year on year, according to data from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

Among the trips made by foreigners, 2.01 million were made by those from Asia, 1.562 million by those from Europe and 641,000 by those from the Americas, up 43 percent, 47.9 percent and 35.6 percent, respectively.

Beijing has enhanced services for inbound travelers by facilitating visa and customs clearance, payments, shopping and tax refunds. The city has also introduced innovative tourism offerings, including 10 themed travel routes and tours to world heritage sites and historic hutongs.

According to the bureau, in 2026, Beijing plans to further enhance refined services for inbound tourists and develop new offerings involving intangible cultural heritage and traditional Chinese medicine. ■
