SHENZHEN, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- An investigation team has been established in south China's Guangdong Province, following a ground collapse at a railway construction site in Shenzhen City that left 13 workers missing, local authorities said.

The construction site cave-in occurred at around 11 p.m. Wednesday at a section of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway in the city's Bao'an District, according to the provincial emergency management department.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, the workers remained missing, the Ministry of Emergency Management revealed.

Nearby residents have been evacuated and temporary traffic control measures are being implemented around the site.

Local rescue teams, consisting of 48 vehicles and 198 personnel, are on-site to conduct rescue and emergency response operations, while a work team from the ministry has also been sent to the site. ■
