CHENGDU, May 26 (Xinhua) -- China officially designated the first group of five national parks in October last year.

The Giant Panda National Park spanning the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu is one of them.

Covering some 22,000 square kilometers, the park boasts a great variety of fauna and flora with over 8,000 species.

Among them are snow leopards, red pandas and golden snub-nosed monkeys, making the park one of the most biodiverse places on earth.
