CBA Roundup: Chen Ying-Chun's double-double leads Guangzhou to 3rd straight victory

Guangzhou Loong Lions enjoyed their third victory in a row edging Jilin Southern Tigers 107-104 thanks to 33 points and 12 assists from on-fire guard Chen Ying-Chun.

ZHUJI, China, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Guard Chen Ying-Chun finished with 33 points and 12 assists, leading the Guangzhou Loong Lions to edge the Jilin Northeast Tigers 107-104 for their third straight win in the 2021-22 season Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Friday.

Jilin had a 7-0 run at the beginning of the game, while Nathaniel Mason scored 10 points to help Guangzhou narrow the margin at 21-25 in the first quarter.

Chen got 11 points and four assists in the second quarter, helping Guangzhou turn the tables 50-48.

Jilin shooters Cui Jinming and Jiang Weize had five three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the team establish a double-digit lead. However, Chen came out again with continuous downtown shooting to lead Guangzhou to victory in the final minutes.

Also on Friday, the Guangdong Southern Tigers smashed the Jiangsu Dragons 108-73. Guard Xu Jie had 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists from the Guangdong bench.

The Beijing Ducks defeated the Qingdao Eagles 78-73 after a typical Beijing-style game. Center Fan Ziming got 21 points and 11 rebounds for Beijing.

With Hu Jinqiu's 36 points and Sun Minghui's double-double of 22 points and 12 assists, the Zhejiang Lions moved past Xinjiang Flying Tigers 109-100.  ■
