Jennifer Lopez’s romantic history is as dazzling as her collection of engagement rings. With six stunning pieces from five different suitors, each ring tells a story of love, luxury, and appreciating value. However, recent sightings of the star house hunting without her latest sparkler have sparked rumours of trouble in paradise for Bennifer 2.0.

Lopez’s engagement ring saga began in 1997 with a modest US$100,000 marquise-cut diamond from Ojani Noa. Since then, her collection has grown in both size and value, culminating in her current green diamond stunner from Ben Affleck, estimated to be worth between US$5 million and $10 million. The journey between these bookends is equally impressive.

Cris Judd’s emerald-cut diamond in 2001 was valued in the low six figures. While the ring was a substantial piece, it was not as extravagant as some of her later engagement rings.

Affleck’s first proposal in 2002 featured a 6.1-carat pink diamond from Harry Winston, initially worth US$2.5 million and potentially valued at US$3 million today due to the increasing rarity of pink diamonds. This ring became a cultural phenomenon, sparking a trend towards coloured diamonds and significantly increasing the value of pink diamonds.

CNN Style reports that Australia’s Argyle diamond mine, which previously produced more than 90 per cent of the world’s coloured diamonds, ceased production in 2020, potentially causing the value of Lopez’s ring to skyrocket further.

Marc Anthony upped the ante in 2004 with an 8.5-carat light blue diamond, also from Harry Winston, it was initially valued at US$4 million and is now potentially worth $5 million. Blue diamonds are rare, and this ring contributed to the growing popularity and value of blue diamonds, particularly in the princess cut.

In 2007, just three years after Lopez received her ring, a 6.04-carat blue diamond sold at Sotheby’s for US$7.98 million, setting a new per-carat record for any diamond at that time. This sale highlighted the increasing demand and value for blue diamonds.

Alex Rodriguez’s 2019 proposal brought a 15-carat emerald-cut diamond estimated between US$1 million and $5 million, which could now fetch up to $1.4 million.

The emerald cut’s popularity can be traced back to its historical significance. If you think about it, both Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor had emerald-cut engagement rings. JLo’s ring served to reinforce this legacy and bring it into the modern era, making her jewellery collection one to watch.

In 2022, Lopez paired her talk-of-the-town green diamond engagement ring with a classic white gold band.

The total value of JLo’s engagement ring collection has skyrocketed from an initial estimate of around US$11 million to a potential US$13-20 million today. This appreciation reflects not only the rarity and quality of the stones but also the fascination with celebrity jewellery and the booming market for coloured diamonds.

As Lopez’s romantic journey continues to interest her fans, her engagement rings serve as glittering milestones, each representing a chapter in her life and a snapshot of the luxury jewellery market.

Whether or not her current ring remains on her finger, one thing is certain: Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring collection is a treasure trove that keeps on growing in both size and value.
