YANGON, March 30 (Xinhua) -- About 1,700 people died, 3,400 were injured, and 300 remained missing in the massive earthquake in Myanmar, according to the country's State Administration Council on Sunday.

Chinese rescue workers in Myanmar's earthquake zones have been racing against death, braving heat and the smell of dead bodies, to win back more lives within the 72 hours of the best rescue time.
