Chinese shares close mixed Tuesday

BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index flat at 3,369.98 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.43 percent lower at 10,649.08 points.

The combined turnover of the stock market stood at about 1.26 trillion yuan (about 175.5 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.45 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares in the pesticide and fertilizer, as well as electricity sectors led the gains, while those related to shipbuilding and electronic information saw major losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.33 percent to close at 2,145.48 points. ■
