Bhumjaithai names Anutin and Sihasak as PM candidates
The Bhumjaithai party has nominated party leader Anutin Charnvirakul and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow as its candidates for the post of prime minister ahead of next year’s general election.
The party says Anutin, who is currently serving as caretaker prime minister, has experience in governing the country and enjoys public support to continue his work. With Thailand facing multiple challenges, the party said continuity in leadership is necessary and that it considers Anutin the most suitable person for the job.
Meanwhile, Sihasak was named the party’s second prime ministerial candidate, citing his extensive diplomatic experience and his ability to restore Thailand’s standing on the international stage.
The party added that he is capable of working cohesively with both political and security agencies and is respected by the Thai public and the international community.
The party also addressed earlier speculation that Suphajee Suthumpun and Ekniti Nitithanprapas might be nominated as prime ministerial candidates, saying that both have agreed to continue working with Bhumjaithai.
During the announcement of the party’s policy platform yesterday, Anutin said that, if the party leads the next government, Sihasak would serve as a deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister, with Suphajee also a deputy prime minister and commerce minister, and Ekniti as a deputy prime minister and finance minister.
