FM Sihasak to speak at Davos
Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow will travel to Davos next week to attend the World Economic Forum, where he will highlight Thailand’s role in combating transnational online crime, according to an informed diplomatic source.
Sihasak will be at the Swiss ski resort from December 19 to 22. He is scheduled to speak in three sessions on forced labor, cybersecurity, and ASEAN’s pathway to growth.
The Davos meeting is an annual event that brings together global leaders, the private sector, and nongovernmental organizations to discuss the challenges facing the world.
Online scams and cybercrime have dominated headlines in recent years due to their rapid expansion and increasingly sophisticated networks, particularly in Southeast Asia. They have caused severe economic losses and social harm across the region and beyond.
Thailand has positioned itself as a regional hub for cooperation against online scams, working closely with neighboring countries and international partners to disrupt criminal networks and protect victims.
At least 65 world leaders are expected to attend the WEF, including U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
This year’s forum is being held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” with discussions focusing on global issues such as the Russia-Ukraine war, the crisis in Iran and Venezuela, and the future of Gaza, among others.
Sihasak will also hold informal bilateral meetings with several leaders from both the public and private sectors.
