Police have launched a manhunt for a 26-year-old man who allegedly posted a fake payment slip on social media, claiming that he had paid Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Bt7 million in “tea money” in 2023.

The purported payment slip, which appeared to bear the name of Kasikornbank, was posted on a webpage under the pseudonym “Godd Damn”. The post was shared with others, prompting the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) and police to launch investigations.

Police reportedly checked with Kasikornbank and found no record of the recipient account number shown on the purported slip. The bank also reportedly said that transfers through its K PLUS mobile banking application are limited to Bt5 million per day.

Police and the DES have identified the person behind the “Godd Damn” pseudonym as a 26-year-old from Chum Saeng district in Nakhon Sawan province, according to reports.

The suspect, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business computing from a university in northern Thailand, is a former member of the now-defunct Move Forward Party.

He is believed to be living in the Bang Khen area of Bangkok, and police are seeking to arrest him.

Meanwhile, Special Branch police have filed a complaint with Bang Khen police against the owner of the “Godd Damn” webpage, accusing him of disseminating false information in violation of the law.

No charges have yet been filed specifically in connection with the alleged fabrication of the payment slip.
