Chao Phraya Express Boat to cut fares as diesel price drops
The Chao Phraya Express Boat company has announced a 1-baht reduction in fares across all its passenger boat services, effective this Friday, as global diesel prices continue to ease.
Charoenporn Charoentham, managing director of the company, stated on Tuesday that the decision follows a significant 4-baht per litre drop in diesel prices, which reached 40.25 baht per liter on April 24.
The company, therefore, is passing the savings on to commuters.
From May 1, the revised fare will be:
- Orange Flag Service: Nonthaburi–Wat Rajsingkorn - Reduced to 18 baht.
- Yellow Flag Service: Nonthaburi–Sathorn - Reduced to 23 baht.
- Green-Yellow Flag Service: Pak Kret–Nonthaburi - Reduced to 16 baht
Nonthaburi–Sathorn - Reduced to 23 baht
Pak Kret–Sathorn - Reduced from 36 baht to 35 baht.
- Red Flag (Air-Conditioned) Service: Nonthaburi–Sathorn - Reduced to 32 baht.
Charoenporn emphasised that the company closely monitors fuel market trends to ensure fair pricing of their services.
He also confirmed that, if diesel prices continue to decline, the company will implement further fare reductions.
The adjustment is expected to provide some relief to daily commuters, who rely on river transport as an alternative to the city's congested roads and expanding rail networks.
