Another 69 Thais reach Turkey after overland evacuation from Tehran
Another group of 69 Thai nationals has arrived safely in Turkey after a 17-hour overland journey from Tehran.
Led by Apaicheep Bunnag, chargé d'affaires at the Thai Embassy in Tehran, the group crossed the Iranian border checkpoint at Razi and headed towards the Turkish checkpoint at Kapikoy at 9pm local time.
The evacuees were received by Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, deputy director-general of the Department of Consular Affairs, and officials from the Thai Embassy in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
They were then taken to a hotel in Ankara to rest before flying back to Thailand on Thursday and Friday.
The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked both the Iranian and Turkish governments for facilitating the evacuation of Thai nationals from Iran.
The first group of 52 Thais arrived in Türkiye from Iran last Saturday and flew back to Thailand on Monday and Tuesday.
