100 Voices Road To Bangkok WorldPride 2030
100 Voices Road To Bangkok WorldPride 2030

“The entertainment industry is a door that helps society understand LGBTQ+ people better.” 🌈✨
Meet Nuchy Anucha Boonyawatana, Former President of the Thai Film Directors Association (TFDA), a film director whose films The Blue Hour and Malila both have gay lead characters, made back when Nuchy still identified as gay, before later becoming trans.
Nuchy explains that being part of the community means a perspective rooted in gender and sexual diversity runs through her storytelling automatically. The Thai entertainment industry is truly progressive on diversity, to the point that a kathoey director could serve as President of the Thai Film Directors Association. Because entertainment media reaches a wide audience and can change how people think and behave, it helped build public understanding and support for the marriage equality law.
Hosting WorldPride 2030 would help Thailand grow its diversity even further, because LGBTQ+ culture is part of Thailand’s identity, something the country is known for, with a big economic impact. Change takes time, but it can open doors for a new generation of LGBTQ+ filmmakers and speed up how society learns from one another. Nuchy is sure the day will come, and offers her congratulations in advance, as part of the 100 Voices Road To Bangkok WorldPride 2030 project.
