Veteran journalist Vanchai chosen as new Thai PBS head

Vanchai, 65, was one of the three finalists in the selection of the head of Thailand’s leading public broadcaster by its Board of Governors on Thursday.
His previous careers include secretary general of Seub Nakhasathien Foundation, a non-governmental environment and wildlife protection organization, and editor of Sarakadee magazine.
A recipient of Sriburapha Award in recognition of his writing, Vanchai also previously served as a deputy director general of Thai PBS before becoming news director of PPTV, a commercial broadcaster.
He said he will use his experience to help strengthen the contents of Thai PBS.
Vanchai will succeed Wilasinee Phiphitkul whose current term will end on July 23.
