Temperatures to drop in all except southern region next week
Temperatures across Thailand, with the exception of southern provinces, are forecast to drop by between 2oand 7oC from November 17thto 23rd, due to the arrival of an intense cold front from China.
The Meteorological Department reported today that, initially, the approaching high pressure cell will bring widespread rainfall to northern reaches of Thailand for 2-3 days, followed quickly by a continuing drop in temperatures.
Northeastern provinces will experience sharp drop in temperatures, by 4-7oC, between November 17th and 23rd, whereas the mercury in the northern, central and eastern provinces, including Bangkok and its peripherals, is forecast to fall by just 2-4oC.
The southern region will experience more rain, heavy in some areas, due to the escalating northeastern monsoon wind over the Gulf and southern region. Strong winds and high waves are forecast in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf.
Mariners are advised to exercise great caution and to avoid stormy areas, while small boats are strongly advised to remain ashore for their safety.
