Suspected fugitive Chinese scam boss arrested in Chon Buri

Thai immigration officers arrested a suspected Chinese scam boss at a housing estate in Bang Lamung district of the eastern province of Chon Buri yesterday.

The suspect, identified by police as ‘Yang’, aka ‘Jack Yang’, is wanted in several countries and by Interpol for allegedly defrauding more than 600 victims, mostly Chinese citizens, out of about 900 million baht through online gambling platforms, which are based in a scam centre in the town of Cagayan De Oro in Mindanao of the Philippines.

Immigration said that Yang entered Thailand late last year on a Dominican passport. He then took refuge in a rented house on an estate in Chon Buri.

Immigration managed to locate Yang using biometric facial comparison techniques in their investigation.
