Mother seeks justice after 14-year-old son assaulted in school toilet
The mother of a 14-year-old high school student has sought assistance from social campaigner Gun Jompalang after her son was lured into a school restroom in Prawet district in Bangkok and severely assaulted by 10 classmates and senior students, who then posted video footage of the attack on social media.
The victim’s mother said on Thursday that the incident took place after a fellow student acted as a decoy to lure her son into a school toilet.
The group violently attacked the boy while using mobile phones to record the incident, which was later posted online, presumably to cause public humiliation and distress to the family.
Following the assault, the mother filed a police report at Phra Khanong station. She deemed the school's response, suspending the attackers for one month, to be inadequate punishment for the perpetrators and unfair to her son.
The family then turned to Gun Jompalang to help follow up on the legal case and push for stricter penalties.
The victim's family has urged the school and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate administrative and legal action against everyone involved to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
