Arrest warrant issued for second suspect in Narathiwat ranger killings

The Narathiwat Provincial Court has issued an arrest warrant for a man suspected of involvement in the deadly attack on the Bukeh Sami Road checkpoint in Ra-ngae district of Narathiwat on July 22, which killed five paramilitary rangers and injured six civilians.

The suspect, identified as Arsesan, is already the subject of an arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in a bomb attack in Su-ngai Kolok district of Narathiwat on March 8, according to the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Forward Command of the Fourth Army Region.

Another suspect, Mahama Sari, a resident of Sai Buri district in Pattani, is currently in military custody for questioning over the Bukeh Sami attack.

Following the attack, martial law has been imposed across Narathiwat province, authorising the military to take over from the police and local authorities in maintaining peace and order. It also empowers the military to use lethal force, if necessary, against suspects deemed to pose an immediate security threat.
